MARLIE MOUNT CROWNED INSPORTS NAT'L NETBALL CHAMPS
Kingston, Jamaica – Marlie Mount are champions of the INSPORTS National Primary School Netball after defeating Portland Cottage in today’s grand final at the Leila Robinson Courts.
The St Catherine champions prevailed 17-12 to lift their first ever national sporting trophy.
With a strong supporting staff of teachers and students, Marlie Mount were off to a strong start, leading by as much as eight points at the end of the third quarter.
However, their Clarendon opponents fought back in the final quarter, but found the deficit an impossible task, as Marlie Mount held on for an historic win.
Meanwhile, Naggo Head ended the season on a high after thrashing St Elizabeth’s Burnt Savannah 18-8 in the third-placed play-off, while Portsmouth took the consolation rally ahead of Ensom City.
As expected, Marlie Mount swept the individual awards with goal-attack Trishauna Allen named most valuable player (MVP) of the final.
Allen’s teammate and captain Donet Williams copped the best defender award. Winning coach Tudi-Ann Green was named top coach, while Burnt Savannah walked away with the most disciplined team accolade.
