INTER-SCHOOL GOLF STARTS TODAY

Under the guidance of Allison Reid who is responsible for junior golf in Jamaica, the first ever Inter Schools Golf Tournament will get under way on Tuesday at the Constant Spring Golf Club in Kingston.

The nine-hole tournament will start at 3:30 pm. The young golfers will play a scramble format.

A golf scramble is a format for a golf tournament. Two or more players form a team, with the rules emphasizing fun without the pressure of players keeping individual scores. Each player hits a tee shot on each hole, but everyone plays from the spot of the best shot, subject to certain criteria. Rules for playing in a scramble are informal, with tournament organizers modifying basic rules as they wish.

The schools that will compete in this inaugural tournament are St. Andrew Technical High School, Jamaica College, Campion College, Hillel Academy and AISK.

According to Allison Reid, "everyone is excited to see the start of the first ever inter schools golf tournament which has been in the making for a long time. Although it starts with five schools, it is expected that the competition among the entrants will drive growth in the near future."
