Smooth Start For the 2019/2020 Academic Year
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Information is advising that the 2019/20 school
year got off to a smooth start.
“I am very satisfied with the reports I have received from all our regional offices. I think
full commendation should be given to the team [from the Ministry] and school
administrators across the island,” said Minister with Responsibility for
the Education Ministry, Hon. Karl Samuda.
The Ministry is confident that all schools had adequate water supply for the start of school. An audit of all schools affected by a lack of water across the island has been completed and in excess of 98% of the affected schools received ‘trucked water’ prior to the start of the school term. The other 2% received water early this morning.
The distribution of furniture will continue over the course of the week.
Arrangements are in place to treat unexpected staffing vacancies. Principals have been asked to submit these shortages to their Regional Offices by September 12, 2019.
The Ministry will continue to monitor the schools through its dashboard during this week.
