NSWMA gets three Garbage Trucks

The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) has received three (3) garbage trucks from the Government of Jamaica through the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development at an approximate value of J$24,953,319.27 each.

The regions of WPM Waste Management Limited, NEPM Waste Management Limited and MPM Waste Management Limited will each receive one unit to assist with the collection and transportation of solid waste.

An additional nine (9) Garbage Trucks will be procured during this financial year.

Minister of Local Government and Community Development, Honourable Desmond McKenzie has repeatedly stated that the NSWMA is a priority agency in the Ministry, and assures the public that all efforts are being channeled into increasing and improving resources to address the issue of timely and consistent collection of solid waste.

Audley Gordon, Executive Director of the NSWMA assures the public that he will continue to champion the cause of increasing the fleet of the regional entities because “to be tasked with the responsibility of public cleansing is a serious one that must never be taken lightly”.
