TRANSPORT AUTHORITY INCREASES APPLICATION FEES
Kingston, Jamaica- 2018 October 1
The Transport Authority says the increased application fees which take effect today, October 1, 2018 are necessary to cover the extraordinary administrative costs associated with the Liberalization Pilot and are intended to be in effect until the end of the pilot on November 30, 2018.
The Liberalization Pilot which was launched on September 10, 2018 provides a unique opportunity for illegal public transportation providers to legitimize their operations.
The Authority is therefore urging illegal operators to become compliant with the law and ensure they legalize their services in order to avoid prosecution, as the Liberalization Pilot will end on November 30, 2018. Applicants are also being cautioned to conduct business directly with the Transport Authority and refrain from transacting business with individuals purporting to be agents of the Authority.
