MILLIONS OF DOLLARS’ WORTH OF COUNTERFEIT GOODS SEIZED
April 16, 2018 – Over JM $100 million dollars’ worth of counterfeit goods were seized during an operation on Barry Street in downtown Kingston conducted by the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigations Branch on Monday, April 16.
Reports are that about 11:00 a.m., the team raided two establishments that specialize in the sale of clothes and shoes. Several items with brands such as Nike, Louis Vuitton and Adidas were seized, including shoes and sandals. Two Chinese nationals were arrested in connection with the seizure and are expected to be charged under the Consumer Protection Act, the Trademark Act and the Customs Act.
The investigation continues.
