TEACHER'S REJECT GOVERNMENT'S OFFER
Delegates of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association attending today’s Special
Conference at the Douglas Orane auditorium at Wolmer's Boys' school at
National Heroe's Circle, voted to reject the government’s 16 percent increase
on basic salaries.
They also voted to reject the proposal of a negotiation cycle of fours instead of
the two years which currently obtains.
Of the 352 accredited delegates who voted, 313 voted to reject the offer, while
37 voted to accept. There was one rejected ballot and 1 returned without a
mark.
