Delegates of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association attending today’s Special

Conference at the Douglas Orane auditorium at Wolmer's Boys' school at

National Heroe's Circle, voted to reject the government’s 16 percent increase

on basic salaries.

They also voted to reject the proposal of a negotiation cycle of fours instead of

the two years which currently obtains.

Of the 352 accredited delegates who voted, 313 voted to reject the offer, while

37 voted to accept. There was one rejected ballot and 1 returned without a

mark.
