ST. ANDREW SOUTH POLICE OFFICERS REAPING SUCCESS
Police Officers in the St. Andrew South Division have been commended by the Police High Command for their contribution to the mission of the Jamaica Constabulary Force to rid the nation of illegal firearms and ammunition and arrest and charge those in breach of the law.
According to commanding officer for the Division, Senior Superintendent Carl Ferguson, the Division's operational activities for the month of January have resulted in the capture of two wanted men and the seizure of nine illegal guns and numerous rounds of ammunition. He too thanked the men and women under his command for their dedication to the job.
The two wanted men who have been arrested are Huntley Richards, otherwise called ‘Roy or Puppy Jaw’ and Christopher Evans, otherwise called ‘Voodo’. Huntley Richards, otherwise called ‘Roy or Puppy Jaw’, was arrested in St. Ann on Friday, January 19. Richards is wanted for the murder of Wayne Anthony Gardner, committed in May 2010. Members of the St. Andrew South Proactive Investigation Unit arrested Evans in Red Grounds, St. Catherine on Saturday, January 20. He is wanted for the murder of Sebert Johnson, committed in September 2016.

Meanwhile, operational teams have been consistently seizing firearms since the start of the year. On Tuesday, January 2, one Glock 9mm pistol along with seventeen 9mm rounds of ammunition were seized when 39-year-old Brandon Campbell of Cedar Grove Estate, St. Catherine was fatally shot during a confrontation with the Police along Cresent Road, Kingston 11.
Two days later, on January 4, the Hunts Bay Police apprehended one man and seized a 9mm pistol with three rounds of ammunition at a party on West Avenue, Kingston 13. Shortly after, about 10:30 a.m., a Police team in Duhaney Park arrested two men on Plantation Road, St Andrew in connection with the seizure of a Beretta 9mm pistol with two rounds of ammunition and a 9mm Ruger pistol with ten 9mm rounds of ammunition.
Then, on Saturday, January 20, quick action by the Olympic Gardens Police led to the seizure of a Browning 9mm pistol, with a magazine containing two rounds of ammunition and the arrest of one man, following a shooting death on Henderson Avenue, Kingston 11 about 7:45 p.m.
One man was taken in custody about 10:20 p.m., on Monday, January 22 in connection with the seizure of a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol containing five 9mm rounds of ammunition on Fitzgerald Avenue, Kingston 13.
On Wednesday, January 24, the Hunts Bay Police seized one Smith and Wesson along with eleven rounds of ammunition on Olympic Way in Kingston 11.
And on Thursday, January 25, one Hewan 9mm semi-automatic pistol, with a magazine containing two 9mm rounds of ammunition, was taken from 33-year-old Richard Bowla, otherwise called ‘Rambo’, of Tavares Gardens, Kingston 11, who was fatally shot during a confrontation with the Police on Payne Avenue, Kingston 11.
Then, on Friday, January 26, an 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the seizure of a Clutch Back .45 pistol and six .45 cartridges on White Wing Avenue in the Division.
